Following last weeks cup victory it was imperative for the jaguars to move from the foot of the league table and get that elusive first league win of their comeback season. A late addition to the match day squad saw Emile Hunter added with former manager Pat Hart taking charge of referee duties.

A confident start saw Athletic on the front foot with a great run from Shah Bhakerd through the middle past 3 players into the opposition box to smash in the first goal on 8 minutes, it wasn’t long before the Jaguars were on the attack once more, this time a through ball from Emile Hunter found Maleke Brown who tapped in the second on 14 minutes. Maleke was a problem for Parson St all game with his quick pace and wide runs giving Athletic great options.

Maleke Brown was a threat on the wing for Bristol Athletic

Parson St were persistent in attack and were rewarded on 34 minutes when Player manager Kanwar Singh misjudged a challenge allowing a cross into Athletic’s box which was duly converted. Seven minutes later though Bristol Athletic restored their two goal cushion when a ball from Joe White found Raphael Waugh clear and able to slot the ball home low in the right hand corner to bring in a half time lead of 3-1.

The second half began in a similar way to the first with The Jaguars gaining control of possession and on 61 minutes a clearance found Raphael Waugh flanked by two opposition players on the halfway line, he sprinted goalwards to beat both the defenders and the keeper with a sweet far post finish to make it 4-1. A defensive mix up on 80 minutes gave Parson St a second goal but further strikes from Raphael (officially an OG but he’s claiming it) and then on 88 minutes a Link up from Raphael and Kanwar on the side saw Singh clean through to square it to Man On The Match Shah Bhakerd on the penalty spot who slammed it into the back of the net.

Notable performances this afternoon from Joe White, Birthday boy Joel DaCosta, Maleke Brown and GK Mitch Harrison.

It looks like the Bristol Athletic train is finally out of the station and the team are actually playing like one, which is pleasing not just for the management team of Miller & Singh but also the supporters who again turned out to cheer on the Jaguars. Next up another home game verses Bristol Wanderers on 18th October at Netham, 2pm K.O.
