After two successive league defeats the Jaguars finally notched up a win in the Len Bartlett cup with a convincing 4-0 victory.

It’s been three weeks since the last match and it seems this has given the team time to settle and resolve issues that were preventing that elusive win. A full match day squad gave Miller and Singh plenty of options to craft their ideal starting eleven and gaffer Kanwar Singh started himself on the wing with Raphael Waugh & Omar Simpson up top.

It took just 14 minutes for Athletic to grab their first goal with Omar Simpson rifling home from the right. It stayed that way despite a string of chances in the first half. Then 3 minutes into the second half a pinpoint cross from Raphael Waugh saw Simpson grab his second with a quality volley that left the keeper with no chance to make it 2-0.

20 minutes into the 2nd half saw a strange decision awarding Made for Ever a penalty after an Ash Bryan challenge. Debut keeper Mitchell Harrisson was having none of it and saved with his feet, keeping the score to 2-0.

Two more goals came with a conversion finally made by Raphael Waugh after a string of missed chances. Amenraj Singh threaded a delightful ball into the path of Waugh who slotted home to make it 3. A fine piece of individual skill came in the 85th minute when a neat turn and shot gave substitute Maleke Brown a well deserve goal making it a convincing 4-0.

There were still some shaky moments for Athletic as they often battled themselves to keep their focus, but in general it was a much improved performance both in application and in shape with standout performances from Captain Shah Bhakerd, Amenraj Singh and Ash Bryan. You could argue that the entire starting eleven should be mentioned as this really was a major improvement. Man of the match (for that penalty save) was Mitch Harrison.

So in front of club founders, Hart, Wakefield, Rodwell and Collins the new boys Miller & Singh finally got that win. COME ON B.A !
